Glossary of Terms Ch.4


Client-Centered Practice- gathering information about a person with a disability.(IEP)

Criteria for Service- means involving the patient during all the paperwork about their disabilities.(helping with assessments)

Criterion-Reference Measurement – identification that an individual with disabilities (referral)

Device Characteristics –identifying different parts of technology(size)

Expert Systems – done by computers that help decide what skill is best for them(referral)

Functional Performance Measures – seeing if the technology is needed(change)

Follows-along- activities that happens along the way(help might not be needed)

Follow-upcheck and see if help is still needed(checkup)

Health-Related Quality of Life-

Implementation Phase- getting the equipment that is needed to help the individual (technology)

Needs Identification-when all needs have been identified to help the individual (paperwork)

Norm-Referenced Measurements – showing the scores that have been done to help see where help is needed (task)

Operational Competence –starts from the beginning to see where an individual stands and to see what can they do to become better (goals)

Outcome Measures – progress (vocational rehabilition)

Performance Aid – information stating that a person needs help with their performance

Qualitative Measurement – assumption that each person can do a skill or task (goal)

Quality-of-Life Measures – why and what is needed for the individual to succeed (assessments)

Quantitative Measurement–(testing) a number of different assessments

Referral and Intake – saying and showing with understanding that help is needed (getting a note from a specialist)

Strategic Competence – individuals seeing what they can accomplish (application)

Technology Abandonment – when the client stops using all equipment that was given (devices)

User Satisfaction – devices that has been developed (classification)

User Satisfaction Measures – when clients decide to if all their needs have been met (satisfication)
